Nanny Salary
Candidate salaries paid by the family are based on approximately a 50-60 hour for live-in jobs (40-50 for live-out jobs) five-day work week. Any additional hours and fees will be negotiated with the family.
The typical salary of a live-in nanny ranges from $ 300 to $ 600 gross per week depending upon the nanny’s education, childcare experience, and qualifications. Highly experienced nannies may seek a greater salary. The number of children in your family, their ages, the hours of the position, benefits offered, the range of responsibilities and chores are also a determining factor in salary negotiations.
The salary of a live-out nanny ranges from $ 10.00 to $ 16.00 an hour. Again, highly experienced nannies may seek a greater salary.
A written work agreement is provided for family and nanny to fill out.
Transportation
Live-in nannies that come from out of state are responsible for purchasing a round trip airline ticket if airfare is needed. The employer should then reimburse the nanny for half of that airline ticket after two months of employment. At the end of the first year of employment, the employer should reimburse the nanny for the remaining half of the round trip airline ticket that the nanny has purchased.
Nannies who purchase one way tickets or who do not travel by airplane should be reimbursed after two months for their travel expenses. This should be documented in the nanny/family work agreement and authorized by both nanny and family.
